Is Early Learning Community a preschool or daycare?

No. Early Learning Community is a parent-child program, not a preschool or daycare. A parent or caregiver attends class alongside each child, participating together throughout the entire class.

Is this a drop-off program?

No. One of the things that makes our community special is that children and their grown-ups learn together. Parents and caregivers remain with their children during class and are encouraged to participate, observe, and enjoy the experience together.

Who can bring my child to class?

Any loving adult is welcome! Moms, dads, grandparents, nannies, or another consistent caregiver may attend with your child. We simply ask that the caregiver is registered and remains with your child throughout class.

Is this an academic program?

Our focus is not early academics.

Instead, we emphasize the skills that build a strong foundation for lifelong learning, like confidence, independence, concentration, language, self-help skills, kindness, emotional regulation, and social development.

Children naturally learn early math, language, science, and practical life concepts through hands-on Montessori activities, stories, songs, and meaningful experiences.

What if my child doesn't want to participate?

That's perfectly okay.

Every child adjusts at their own pace. Some children jump right in, while others prefer to observe before joining activities. 

Often, simply watching is an important part of learning.

What if my child has trouble sharing or takes toys from another child?

This is a normal part of early childhood.

Young children are just beginning to learn social skills. Rather than expecting perfection, we gently guide children through these moments with kindness, patience, and respectful limits. These everyday interactions become valuable opportunities to practice empathy, communication, and problem-solving.

What if my child hurts another child?

Toddlers are still learning how to express big feelings and navigate social situations.

If a child bites, hits, pushes, or hurts another child, adults step in calmly and immediately to keep everyone safe. Rather than using shame or punishment, we help children understand what happened, what they are feeling, and support both children through the interaction.

These moments are treated as opportunities for learning and growth.

What if my child wants to leave the classroom?

Many young children enjoy exploring!

Parents remain responsible for supervising their child throughout class. If a child needs a movement break or would like to step outside briefly, you're welcome to do so and return whenever your child is ready.

Is there a bathroom in the classroom?

Yes! A bathroom with a mini-potty and changing table is located inside the classroom for easy access during class.

Can we switch classes?

Whenever space allows, families are welcome to transfer to another class that better fits their schedule or their child's needs. Please contact me, and I'll be happy to discuss available openings. Children do not typically advance to the older class after a birthday. Staying with the same group all year is more beneficial than starting new in another class.  

What should we wear?

Children learn best when they are comfortable and can explore freely!

Comfortable clothing that can get messy is encouraged. Simple clothing makes a big difference. Slip-on shoes and elastic-waist pants help children experience the reward of learning how to care for themselves. 

What if we miss a class?

Life with little ones is wonderfully unpredictable!

When space allows, families are welcome to attend another age-appropriate class during the same school year as a make-up class.
